Hettie the horse demonstrates how real ale is not only healthy, but also good for the liver-y… as she tucks into a half of best local bitter in Rotherham!

Hettie downs a half, watched by Magna 2012 organiser Stephen Burns (left) and chairman David Watkin. And there’s some real healthy horse-sense behind this picture – with the South Yorkshire town’s real ale men celebrating raising a galloping £40,000 for local health charities at this year’s Magna Real Ale and Music Festival in the the town!

Now organisers of the annual Magna extravaganza – held at the town’s former steelworks-turned-science-museum – are turning to the Magnificent Seven for inspiration for next year’s festival.

To set the mood for the four-day event which starts on February 27, the team trotted down to a local livery stables to launch their plans for Wild-West-themed “Baa’sil Goes West” – the group’s 21st festival.

Once again, they are hoping to set new records at the 2013 event. To find out about their efforts, visit the Hand-Pumped link below and read our feature on the Magna men and women.
